ANDRIES HISKES
PRINCIPAL LECTURER INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION AT THE HAGUE UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES

Andries has a background in literary studies and cultural analysis, with a focus on aesthetics, affect theory, and disability studies. His dissertational research focused on how cultural texts and artefacts construe ways of reading and aesthetically judging the disabled body as a form of relationality. Additionally, he examines how reading practices and issues of legibility themselves become a matter of (dis)ability within cultural texts. His current research focuses on the way in which the notion of action is related to issues of representation, and how representation presumes a body with the capacity to act.
