Moniker

We are Luna Maurer and Roel Wouters Co-Founders of Moniker, an Amsterdam based studio (2012-2023).

With Moniker we have explored the relationship between humans and digital technology, with the specific quirks of the internet being a recurring theme. Over the past decade we have seen the web change from an emancipating democratizing network into an infrastructure for big capital. We have seen the screen change from a desktop publishing interface to a fundamental extension of our identity. We have seen apps and digital services smoothing out our lives. Currently we are investigating the effects of these technical developments as an artist duo and as independent makers.
Generally our work has always has tried to question the social effects of digital technology.
